The International Proverse Prize is our annual competition for unpublished book-length works submitted in English (may be translation) of fiction, non-fiction, or poetry. Established in 2008, it is open to all over the age of eighteen without restriction of nationality, residence or citizenship.
Entry is available via Submittable from 7 May to 30 June each year and made available on proversepublishing.com no later than April each year.
Guidelines
Novellas should be in the range of 30,000 to 40,000 words;
Other fiction (e.g. novels, short-story collections) and non-fiction (e.g. autobiographies, biographies, diaries, letters, memoirs, essay collections, etc.) should be in the range of 75,000 to 100,000 words;
Poetry collections should be in the range of 4,000 to 5,000 words, although we do accept longer works up to 10,000 – 12,000);
Other word-counts and mixed-genre submissions are not ruled out.
The Prize
1) Publication by Proverse (including preparation for publication)
2) Cash prize of HKD10,000.00 (approx US$1000.00) awarded on publication of the winning works (may be shared by a maximum of two entries).
Supplementary Prizes
Supplementary Publication Prizes may also be awarded to other thought-provoking work.
